Spicy Lemon-Garlic Shrimp in 5 Minutes
This quick recipe is for all the seafood lovers out there! Seafood is a weakness for a lot of us — myself included. Here it's all about shrimp: healthy, packed with protein, and lightning-fast to cook. In fact, these come together in just 5 minutes — so the name earns its keep. Let's get started!
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Gather your ingredients from the list. Not sure how to make spicy lemon-garlic shrimp in 5 minutes? It couldn't be simpler — and 5 minutes really is all it takes.
-
Step 2:
Wash the parsley and chop it with a knife.
-
Step 3:
Peel the garlic.
-
Step 4:
Pour the olive oil into a skillet and heat it well over medium heat.
-
Step 5:
Add the peeled shrimp to the pan.
-
Step 6:
Sprinkle in the spices.
-
Step 7:
Add the garlic through a press. You can also grate it finely ahead of time, or chop it with a knife for bigger pieces.
-
Step 8:
Add salt to taste.
-
Step 9:
Add half a teaspoon of ground chili to the shrimp. Last time I made this, I used fresh red chili instead. You can go that route too — just prep it first: wash it, cut off the top, remove the seeds, and mince it very finely. Add it to taste.
-
Step 10:
Now that the shrimp are salted and seasoned, toss them with the spices and cook over medium heat for 3 minutes, no longer. That's just enough for them to turn pink and cook through.
-
Step 11:
Transfer the cooked shrimp from the skillet to a deep bowl and squeeze the juice of one lemon over them.
-
Step 12:
Add the chopped parsley and toss everything together well. Let the shrimp sit for a few minutes to soak up the flavors.
-
Step 13:
Serve the shrimp garnished with parsley and lemon wedges. It looks lovely — bright, fresh, and irresistible.
-
Step 14:
Dig in and enjoy!
- Little compares to this dish when you're craving something straight from the sea. These shrimp turn out spicy, with a bright lemon note. They're always the first thing to disappear at a party — I've seen it happen more than once, and I make them for every special occasion. My friends know my soft spot for seafood, so they never turn down a seat at our table. Can you blame them?
