Skillet Meatballs in Tomato Gravy
Juicy, aromatic, and incredibly tasty! Meatballs simmered in gravy in a skillet always turn out wonderfully appetizing and filling. They're very easy to make, and the result is always excellent!
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Here's the simple set of basic ingredients you'll need to make meatballs in gravy. This recipe uses a mix of ground pork and beef, but you can use all pork or all beef. Peel the carrot, onions, and garlic. Remove the stem and seeds from the bell pepper. Rinse the vegetables in clean water.
-
Step 2:
Grate the garlic on a fine grater or press it through a garlic press. Grate the onion on a coarse grater.
-
Step 3:
Add the onion, garlic, and egg to the ground meat. If you like, add your favorite spices and ground pepper. Season with salt and mix everything well until smooth.
-
Step 4:
Shape the meat mixture into meatballs in whatever form you prefer.
-
Step 5:
Fry the meatballs in hot vegetable oil until golden brown on both sides. You can roll them in flour or breadcrumbs first (this recipe uses breadcrumbs).
-
Step 6:
Grate the carrot on a coarse grater and cut the bell pepper and onion into medium dice.
-
Step 7:
Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet. Add the vegetables and cook, stirring, for about a minute.
-
Step 8:
Stir a spoonful of flour and a spoonful of sour cream into the tomato sauce (the sour cream is optional), along with a pinch of salt and finely chopped herbs (this recipe uses parsley). Mix well with a fork or spoon.
-
Step 9:
Place the meatballs in the skillet with the sautéed vegetables.
-
Step 10:
Pour the tomato mixture over everything. Using a spoon, gently lift each meatball so the liquid spreads evenly across the pan. Bring the contents to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 30 to 35 minutes.
-
Step 11:
To serve, sprinkle the meatballs and gravy with fresh herbs and a little allspice. Serve hot.
- Mashed potatoes, boiled buckwheat, or rice are all ideal with these meatballs. They also go well with pasta. Enjoy!
