Cooking method

  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

How do you make pork with green beans? Gather the ingredients. Tenderloin works best here — it's tender and cooks fast — but beef, turkey, or chicken work too. The beans can be fresh or frozen, and there's no need to thaw them first.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Rinse the meat and be sure to pat it dry with a paper towel — extra moisture will keep it from searing and make it steam instead. Cut the meat into small pieces.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Peel and finely mince the garlic.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over high heat and sear the pork until golden brown.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Add the beans and fry with the pork, stirring, for 7 minutes — just enough time for frozen beans to thaw.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Pour the water into the pan.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

Season with salt and pepper and stir. Cover and simmer over medium heat for about 15 minutes. Besides black pepper, add any spices you like.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

Add the garlic and flour to the pork — the flour thickens the sauce. Stir well so no lumps form; to be safe, whisk the flour into a little water before adding it. Simmer everything together for another 2–3 minutes. Serve, sprinkled with fresh herbs if you like. Enjoy!

  • You can use any meat here instead of pork, but keep in mind the cooking time, flavor, and calorie count will change. Beef, for example, takes longer than pork, while chicken or turkey cooks faster.
  • Every oil is good only up to a certain temperature — the smoke point — beyond which it starts to burn and form harmful compounds, including carcinogens.
  • The right skillet matters — a poor choice can ruin even the best recipe.
