Simple One-Egg Crêpes
Quick, easy, and delicious — a family breakfast! These simple one-egg crêpes come out wonderfully soft and tender. They're great for wrapping around any filling, or you can serve them plain with sour cream or any sweet sauce. And they're ready in about 25 minutes!
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
How do you make simple one-egg crêpes? Gather everything you'll need. Sift the flour to aerate it — this helps make the crêpes more tender.
-
Step 2:
Use a nice deep bowl for the batter so it doesn't splatter when you use a mixer. Pour the milk into the bowl and add the egg. By the way, you can thin the milk with a little water — those crêpes come out more pliable.
-
Step 3:
Then pour in a little vegetable oil and add the sugar and a pinch of salt. Add sugar to taste — if you like sweeter crêpes, add a bit more.
-
Step 4:
Gradually add the flour and whisk the batter together.
-
Step 5:
The finished batter should be smooth, with no flour lumps. It'll be quite thin — only a batter like this makes thin crêpes. Judge the amount of flour by the consistency you want: the thicker the batter, the thicker the crêpes.
-
Step 6:
Lightly grease a skillet with oil and heat it until hot. Pour in a little batter and swirl it over the whole surface by tilting the pan in every direction. Cook the crêpes for 1–2 minutes per side over low heat.
-
Step 7:
The finished crêpes will turn golden. Stack them on top of each other on a large flat plate. You can keep them covered so they don't dry out.
-
Step 8:
Serve the crêpes with sour cream, condensed milk, or jam. Enjoy!
- Always wash your eggs before using them, since even a seemingly clean shell can carry harmful bacteria. It's best to use a food-safe wash and a brush.
- Be prepared to need more or less flour than the recipe calls for. Go by the consistency of the batter, not the exact amount of flour. To avoid mistakes, read up on flour and its properties!
