Cheesy Battered Crab Sticks
Fried crab sticks with a golden cheese crust. This one's quick — a real lifesaver when you need something hot in a hurry. You can use frozen or chilled crab sticks for battering, and there's no need to thaw them first.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
First, get all the ingredients ready. Unwrap the crab sticks and peel off the plastic film. For the batter you'll need eggs, flour, and hard cheese; breadcrumbs for coating; and vegetable oil for frying.
-
Step 2:
Crack the eggs into a deep bowl and add the salt and flour.
-
Step 3:
Mix the eggs and flour well so the flour dissolves and no lumps remain.
-
Step 4:
Grate the hard cheese into the egg-and-flour mixture on the large holes of a box grater.
-
Step 5:
Mix the thick egg-flour-cheese batter well.
-
Step 6:
Add the crab sticks to the cheese-and-egg batter and toss to coat.
-
Step 7:
Coat the battered crab sticks generously in breadcrumbs.
-
Step 8:
Set the breaded crab sticks into hot vegetable oil in a skillet.
-
Step 9:
Fry the crab sticks over medium heat, turning them to brown on all sides.
-
Step 10:
Serve the cheesy battered crab sticks hot, as a warm appetizer — with mayonnaise or sour cream if you like.
