Stuffed Chicken Roll-Ups

Incredibly tasty, tender roll-ups with a savory filling. Chicken is our family's favorite, and I often make it for dinner! These roll-ups are impressive enough for a party table too — and they're really easy to make.

Cooking method

Cooking time: 50 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

    The ingredients you'll need.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Rinse the chicken and cut it into thin slabs.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Pound both sides lightly — gently, so you don't tear the meat.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

    Season with pepper.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Sprinkle with your favorite seasoning — I chose herbes de Provence.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

    Season with salt.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

For the filling, grate the ham.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

    Grate the hard-boiled egg.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9

Grate the hard cheese; add half of it to the filling and set the rest aside for now.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10

    Press in the garlic.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11

Mix — and the filling is ready.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12

Spoon a little filling onto the edge of each prepared piece of chicken.

  13. Step 13:

    Step 13

Roll each one up — I didn't pin them shut, they hold together on their own.

  14. Step 14:

    Step 14

Fry them in a hot skillet with vegetable oil for 2-3 minutes.

  15. Step 15:

    Step 15

Flip and fry the other side — this step sets the roll so it won't unravel while baking.

  16. Step 16:

    Step 16

Transfer them to a deep baking dish — today I'm using an old cast-iron skillet, which makes dishes like this especially good.

  17. Step 17:

    Step 17

Thin the sour cream with the water.

  18. Step 18:

    Step 18

Slice the onion into thin rings.

  19. Step 19:

    Step 19

Scatter the onion over the roll-ups, then pour the thinned sour cream on top.

  20. Step 20:

    Step 20

Sprinkle the reserved cheese over the top.

  21. Step 21:

    Step 21

    Bake at 350-400°F (180-200°C) for 30 minutes.

  22. Step 22:

    Step 22

    Enjoy!
