Homemade Chicken Burgers
The perfect snack — ready in under an hour! Give these chicken burgers a try, especially if you're a fan of burgers and the like. They're incredibly good, and best of all, there are no flavor enhancers or other additives. Kids will be over the moon for them.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
How do you make a chicken burger? Get the ingredients ready. I recommend making the ground chicken yourself, grinding pieces of chicken breast in a blender or meat grinder. Pull the lettuce leaves off the stem, wash them, and shake off the water.
-
Step 2:
Slice the burger buns in half. You can use plain wheat buns or rye-wheat ones, with or without sesame seeds. Mine are small — about 65 g each. If yours are larger (around 100 g each), this amount of meat will make 3-4 burgers.
-
Step 3:
Wash the tomato and cut it into not-too-thick slices.
-
Step 4:
Peel the onion and slice it into thin rings.
-
Step 5:
Shake the brine off the pickle and slice it into rounds too.
-
Step 6:
Season the ground chicken with salt and pepper and knead it well by hand. Divide it into 5 equal parts and shape 5 round, uniform patties. Make them fairly thin so the finished burger is a comfortable height to bite into.
-
Step 7:
Coat the patties in breadcrumbs on both sides.
-
Step 8:
Then fry them in vegetable oil on both sides until cooked through and golden. Keep in mind that the patties shrink and firm up a bit as they cook, so it's best to shape them slightly wider than the bun to start.
-
Step 9:
Assemble the burgers. On each bottom bun, lay 1-2 lettuce leaves. Top with red onion rings, then the chicken patty. Arrange the tomato and pickle slices on top. Finish with another lettuce leaf and the top half of the bun.
-
Step 10:
Your homemade chicken burgers are ready. Enjoy!
- Choose tomatoes that are juicy but firm. Soft ones don't hold their shape — they'll fall apart while you slice and cook, and spoil the look of the burger.
- For this recipe, use fresh rather than frozen meat, or the finished patties risk coming out dry.
- If you like, warm the buns in a skillet, and for a juicier burger, spread a little ketchup on the top and bottom bun.
