Roman Salad with Beef and Egg Ribbons

    1. Rinse the beef, pat it dry, and cut it into thin strips. Fry in vegetable oil for 4-5 minutes, then pour in a little water (about 1/2 cup) and braise the beef, covered, over low heat for about 25 minutes.
    1. Crack the eggs into a bowl, season lightly with salt and pepper, and beat with a fork until smooth. Fry two thin egg crepes from this mixture, then roll each one up and slice into thin ribbons.
    1. Wash the lettuce leaves and let them dry. Wash the cucumber and cut it into matchsticks. Finely chop the green onions with a knife, then chop the walnuts. Peel the garlic.
    1. Line the bottom of a serving plate with the lettuce leaves, then layer on the beef and cucumber. Press the garlic over the top, add the egg ribbons, drizzle a lattice of mayonnaise, and finish with a sprinkle of chopped green onions and walnuts.
  • At this point the salad is ready to serve.
