Step 1:
How to make stewed cabbage with carrots and onions? At the head of the white cabbage, remove a few upper leaves. As a rule, they are wilted and not too suitable for food. Chop the vegetable with a thin long straw. Heat a frying pan over high heat and pour in sunflower oil. Heat the oil and put the cabbage in the pan.
Step 2:
Wash, peel and chop the carrots into strips. Instead, you can grate the carrots on a coarse grater.
Step 3:
Add 5 carrots to the pan. Pour in a glass of boiling water or hot water. Be careful not to get burned, because the boiling water will immediately begin to actively evaporate. It is better not to use cold water here.
Step 4:
Peel the onion and cut into thin half rings. Transfer the onion to the pan. Add the bay leaf and sprinkle with dried herbs to taste. Add a tablespoon of tomato paste. Stir and simmer under a closed lid for twenty minutes over low heat.
Step 5:
Add lemon juice to the pan. It is better to squeeze the juice through a strainer to negate the ingress of lemon seeds into the dish.
Step 6:
The last step in the preparation of this dish is the addition of granulated sugar. Mix the dish thoroughly and simmer over low heat for forty minutes.
Due to the fact that the cabbage is cut into thin long strips, it will be ready quickly enough. But in general, the longer the cabbage stews, the tastier, in my opinion, it turns out. It becomes even more soft and tender. The taste range is harmonious.
Due to the low calorie content, stewed cabbage with carrots and onions will appeal to those who take care of their health.
It can be offered to children as a side dish or an independent dish.
