Cooking method

  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

Crack the eggs, separating the yolks from the whites. Put the whites in the refrigerator. Beat the yolks with the salt and sugar, then pour in the milk and add the flour. Beat everything together with a mixer. Melt the butter over low heat and stir it, still warm, into the batter. Add the baking soda slaked with vinegar and beat again. Take the whites out of the refrigerator, whip them into stiff peaks, then fold them gently into the batter.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Heat a skillet and melt a little butter in it (just for the first pancake). Once the skillet is nice and hot, start cooking the pancakes — the pieces that make up the bear. For each pancake bear you'll need two small round pancakes, three little circles (the ears and tail), and four small oblong ovals (the paws).

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Once all the bear pieces are cooked, take a plate for each bear (solid-colored plates work best) and arrange the pieces — face, body, paws, ears, and tail — to assemble each teddy bear.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Melt the chocolate pieces in a double boiler. Use chocolate-covered sunflower seeds for the bears' eyes, and use the melted chocolate and a toothpick to draw in the faces.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Add mint leaves to the plates and decorate with marmalade shaped like raspberries and blackberries, then dust the berries and mint with powdered sugar. This is a classic pancake batter (just with a little more flour), so you can serve the bears with all kinds of toppings — condensed milk, sour cream, or jam. In summer, fresh berries are the way to go.

  • Lots of people love pancakes — that's no secret. There are countless pancake batter recipes out there and just as many ways to dress them up. I decided to have some fun and make something original: teddy bears out of pancakes. Kids and grown-ups alike will love this one, because pancakes taste even better when they come with a playful presentation.
