Lazy dumplings in a slow cooker

A really interesting dish—it's worth a try! Lazy dumplings—what are those? Not so long ago I didn't know the trick either. Now this dish is no mystery to me; I've tried this recipe every which way. I recommend it—it turns out delicious! And the kids are especially crazy about it.

  • Make the dough:
    • crack the egg into a bowl, add the salt and the water, and stir;
    • sift in the flour and knead the dough (it should come out firm);
    • cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it stand.
  • Now the filling:
    • rinse the meat and peel the onion;
    • run the meat and onion through a meat grinder;
    • add salt and pepper and mix.
  • Shape the dumplings:
    • roll the dough out into a thin rectangular sheet, spread the filling over it in an even layer, and roll the dough up into a tight log;
    • slice the log into pieces with a sharp knife (each piece about 3–4 cm wide).
  • Sauté the vegetables:
    • peel the carrot and grate it;
    • peel the onion and cut it into small cubes;
    • put the carrot and onion in the slow cooker bowl and cook in the vegetable oil for 5 minutes on the "Fry" setting.
  • The final step:
    • lay the lazy dumplings on top of the vegetables in a single layer and add water so it just barely covers them;
    • select the "Multicook" program, set the temperature to 250°F (120°C), and cook for half an hour. If you don't have a Multicook setting, use "Stew" or "Bake" for 20–30 minutes. The key is that the dumplings should braise, not fry.
  • All that's left is to plate the lazy dumplings, garnish with sprigs of parsley, and serve this appetizing dish.
  • Enjoy every bite!
