Chudu in a skillet

A wonderful dish for the whole family! Simple and delicious! In my opinion, chudu with a potato filling is far tastier than ordinary hand pies. The dough is soft, thin, and tender, and there's plenty of filling. Give it a try—I think you'll love it too!

  • Boil the potatoes in their skins.
  • While the potatoes cool, make the dough. Pour the kefir into a bowl and add the baking soda. Once it fizzes, work in the flour and salt, kneading an elastic dough.
  • Peel the onion, chop it finely, and sauté it in vegetable oil. Peel the potatoes and grate them. Combine the onion with the potatoes, add salt and pepper, and mix.
  • Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces and roll each out as thin as possible. Spread the potato filling over one piece of dough, cover with another piece, and pinch the edges shut.
  • Cook the chudu in a dry skillet for 4 minutes per side. While they're still hot, brush them with butter.
  • Enjoy!
