Braised Cabbage with Ham
A tasty, hearty lunch the whole family will love!
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
The ingredients.
-
Step 2:
Peel the onion and slice it into half-moons.
-
Step 3:
Cut the carrot into strips or grate it on the coarse side of a grater.
-
Step 4:
Cut the ham into strips.
-
Step 5:
Heat a deep skillet and add 2–3 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Add the onion and carrot and sauté for 2–3 minutes over medium heat. Add the ham and cook for another 2–3 minutes.
-
Step 6:
Cut the tomatoes in half and grate the flesh on the fine side of a grater — the skin stays behind in your hand, so just discard it.
-
Step 7:
Add the minced chili to the pan.
-
Step 8:
Then add the tomato purée, stir, and simmer for a few minutes.
-
Step 9:
Finely shred the cabbage.
-
Step 10:
Add the cabbage to the pan and cook over medium heat until tender, stirring; if there isn't enough tomato juice, add a little water as it braises. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and add a bay leaf if you like.
-
Step 11:
Sprinkle the finished cabbage with fresh herbs and serve. Enjoy!
