  • Back in my student days, living in a dorm with little time or money for cooking, we often made battered crab sticks. With a little imagination and a few tweaks, they turn out surprisingly unusual and tasty. Take the thawed crab sticks, season them with salt and pepper to taste, drizzle with a little oil and lemon juice, and let them sit in the fridge for half an hour to soak up the flavor. Make a batter from the flour, eggs, and milk. Heat oil in a skillet, dip the crab sticks in the batter, and fry them until golden. For an extra flavor kick, make a sauce to go with them: stir the mayonnaise together with the sour cream, chopped pickle, onion, garlic, and mustard to taste. You can stir some finely chopped herbs into the sauce too, like parsley and dill. Serve the crab sticks with the sauce, alongside a fresh vegetable salad if you like. Enjoy!
