Braised Beef with Dill Pickles

A wonderful recipe with a tangy, savory kick — give it a try! I recently came across this dish in one of my favorite food magazines: beef braised with dill pickles. I was curious what it was all about, so I made it for dinner without a second thought, and I can tell you it's really delicious. For anyone who's intrigued, here's how to make it.

  • Start by rinsing the beef, patting it dry, and cutting it into small pieces. Sprinkle it with salt to taste and toss to coat evenly. Fry the beef in a skillet with a little oil along with the finely chopped onion, stirring so it doesn't stick. About 15 minutes in, add the ground black pepper, finely chopped garlic, and a quarter cup of boiling water, then simmer for about 10 minutes. Now add the dill pickles, cut into strips or small dice, and continue to simmer, stirring, for another 5–7 minutes. Serve topped with finely chopped green onion.
