Finely chop the cabbage.
Step 4:
Peel and dice the potatoes.
Step 5:
Peel and grate the carrots on a coarse grater.
Step 6:
Rinse the chicken thoroughly.
Step 7:
Put the chicken, a whole onion, a clove of garlic in a saucepan, pour in water, add 1 tsp salt. I added more parsley along with the roots. Put the pan on the fire and bring the water to a boil. Cook for about 40 minutes until the chicken is ready.
Step 8:
After 40 minutes, remove the onion and garlic clove (roots, if any). Add cabbage, grated carrots and potatoes to the pan. Cook for about 15 minutes more until the vegetables are ready. Soup with chicken should be cooked on a minimum heat so that the ingredients of the dish, especially white cabbage, gradually give their taste and aroma to the broth.
Step 9:
Add salt and pepper to the soup. Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the soup. Mix everything together. Boil for another 1-2 minutes.
Step 10:
Cover the soup with a lid and let it brew for about 15 minutes.

Russian cabbage soup (the old name of shti) is a hot first dish based on sauerkraut or fresh cabbage, which has been prepared since time immemorial in Russia and has a centuries-old history.
Cabbage soup has been steadily preserved in different epochs and has never known social barriers; they were used by all segments of the population. Of course, cabbage soup was not the same for everyone: some, fuller in composition, were called "rich", others were called "empty", since they were sometimes cooked from one cabbage and onion.
They were eaten by everyone from young to old: kings, peasants, and merchants. Russian Russian people's importance of this dish was huge, hence the large number of sayings on this topic: cabbage soup and porridge is our food, cabbage soup is the head of everything, where cabbage soup is, look for Russians there.
