Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 40 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to make a crumble? Prepare the products. Choose apples of hard, not sweet varieties. They keep their shape better and taste better in this kind of baking. If your apples are sweet, then I advise you to reduce the amount of sugar, otherwise it will be cloying. Brown sugar goes into the filling, white sugar goes into the dough. Instead of walnuts, you can take any others or completely exclude them.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

First of all, cut the butter into cubes and put it in the freezer. It should be very well chilled.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Chop the nuts into medium-sized pieces.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Put them in a dry frying pan and fry for 5 minutes over medium heat. This way you will enhance the taste of nuts. They will become more crispy and fragrant. This is not a mandatory step at all, but after trying it once, you will make sure how much tastier the nut is when toasted.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Wash and peel the apples. Cut them into halves, cut out the middle. Cut the apples into small pieces.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Pour brown sugar and cinnamon into a dry frying pan. Put the prepared apples.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Put the pan on a small fire and, stirring the apples, wait for the sugar to melt. Gently mix the apple slices with the resulting caramel. As soon as the juice stands out from the apples and, mixed with caramel, covers each piece, turn off the heating - the filling is ready.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

It remains to prepare the dough - sand crumbs. In a bowl, pour flour and sugar. Remove the butter from the freezer, put it in the flour.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Using a fork, rub the butter with flour until fine crumbs. The goal is to mash the butter quickly so that each piece of it is covered with flour and sugar. Then, when baking, the butter will make the flour crispy. If it melts, then this effect will not work. Therefore, you need to work quickly and not with your hands, the oil will begin to melt from the heat of your hands.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

To prepare crumble, you can use either one large mold or several portions. Put the caramelized apples on the bottom of the mold. sprinkle them with nuts on top. I prefer a lot of apples, so I put them on two-thirds of the volume.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

Sprinkle sand crumbs on top. Place the crumble molds on a baking sheet. I advise you to cover it with parchment - if a lot of apple juice is released during baking, then running away, it will not stain the baking sheet.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12.

Bake the crumble in the oven at 180 ° C for 25 minutes. Take out the finished dessert, cool it down a little. Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream.

Very easy to prepare dessert! But I recommend reducing the amount of sugar. It seemed too sweet to me.
