Composition / ingredients
Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
Prepare all the necessary ingredients for the salad. You can use ready-made store-bought crackers (depending on the additives, you can adjust the final taste of the salad) or make such crackers yourself.
Step 2:
To do this, cut the rye bread into thin slices. Already sliced bread is perfect, it will save you time. Cut each slice into identical cubes. Place the breadcrumbs on a baking sheet and place in a preheated 180 ° C oven for 15-20 minutes. Mix the crackers periodically so that they are evenly dried. If possible, turn on the convection.
Step 3:
I left the crackers in the cooling oven for another 10 minutes so that they acquired a beautiful brown shade. Cool the finished crackers. Rye crackers can be replaced with wheat bread crackers.
Step 4:
Also cut the ham into cubes. For a salad, you can use not only ham, but also any other boiled-smoked or baked pork: carbonade, neck, boiled pork.
Step 5:
Cut the cheese into small strips. You can also grate cheese on a grater if desired.
Step 6:
Wash the tomatoes, dry them and cut them into cubes. For this salad, choose tomatoes that are fleshy and not very watery. If there is too much liquid in tomatoes, it is better to cut out the middle of them and only then cut into cubes.
Step 7:
Combine ham, cheese, tomatoes and crackers in a salad bowl.
Step 8:
Season the salad with mayonnaise and mix. If you do not plan to serve the salad immediately or in the next 10-15 minutes, then it is better not to add crackers and mayonnaise. The crackers will quickly get wet and lose all their crispness.
Step 9:
The salad is ready. Bon appetit!
You can add canned white or red beans to the salad.
I've been cooking this salad for 12 years, since the first time I found it in some magazine. The simple composition and speed of preparation, as well as the wonderful taste make it a favorite for many years.
