Okra and tomato casserole

Nutritious and healthy dish - an unusual vegetable casserole! I recently tried a new recipe using my favorite okra, namely, baked it with tomatoes in the oven. Absolutely wonderful casserole for lovers of unusual dishes and culinary experiments! However, the casserole is ordinary :) It's all about okra, which is better to take fresh, but since it is not sold in every store, you can try to find frozen. I think it will turn out no less delicious.

Cooking method

Cooking time: 1 h 20 min

1.Pour water into a saucepan, add salt, bring to a boil, then put okra in a saucepan. Cook okra on low heat for 2 minutes, without letting it boil, so that the vegetables do not become slippery and do not fall apart.
2. Remove the pan from the heat, put the okra on a plate and leave to cool.
3. At this time, cut the tomatoes into circles or quarters.
4. Remove the stems from the cooled okra, cut the vegetables into circles or plates lengthwise - to your taste.
5. In a bowl, mix together okra, tomatoes, half of the bread crumbs and finely chopped thyme. Put everything in a greased baking dish with vegetable oil.
6. In a small saucepan, melt the butter, add flour to it. Keep on low heat, stirring constantly, until the flour turns golden brown. Pour in the milk, pour in the pepper, then cook everything together for 5 minutes.
7. Pour the resulting sauce over the vegetables in the form, sprinkle the remains of bread crumbs on top.
8. Put the mold in a preheated 180 C oven for 45 minutes. The casserole should become beautiful and golden, and the liquid should thicken.

Bon appetit!
