Step-by-step cooking
Oriental sweets are shrouded in mystery, like the fairy tales of the Thousand and One Nights, where happy heroes receive silver trays filled with halva and sorbet from the hands of beautiful girls with enviable constancy. From there, cookies with the strange name "shakar-churek" also came to us. However, this name seems strange only to the uninitiated. In fact, "shakar" is sugar, and "churek" is bread. And speaking more mundane, I want to give you a culinary recipe for "sweet oriental bread". Interestingly, this "food for peri" does not have an exact geographical registration. Shakar-churek is baked both in the Caucasus and in Central Asia. And every nation considers it its own. I found this recipe in Uzbekistan.
In a deep bowl, rub the margarine on a coarse grater, break the eggs there, pour out the sugar and pour vodka. All this is carefully ground to a homogeneous mass. Then we start adding flour in small portions, and mix until the lumps disappear completely. We must bring the dough to such a state that it resembles plasticine. And it was separated, of course, from the walls of the bowl. Then, we knead it with our hands for some more time.
Then, we roll out the dough thinly and cut out circles from it. We put it on a sheet and send it to a hot oven. We bake in the same mode as any other shortbread cookies. Ready hot chureks sprinkle with powdered sugar on top.
