Hunter's salad with pickles and smoked sausage
A great appetizer — quick, tasty, and affordable. You'll be glad you made it. Hunter's salad with pickles and smoked sausage is simply scrumptious! I'll never get tired of eating this one. A great alternative to the usual appetizer salads.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
How do you make hunter's salad with pickles and smoked sausage? Boil the potato, carrot, and eggs ahead of time until done. Grate the potato, carrot, and eggs. Cut the salami and pickles into cubes. If the salted mushrooms are large, cut them into cubes too.
-
Step 2:
Build the salad in layers, spreading each one with mayonnaise. Layer 1 — potato and mayonnaise.
-
Step 3:
Layer 2 — pickles and mayonnaise (just a little mayonnaise).
-
Step 4:
Layer 3 — carrot and mayonnaise.
-
Step 5:
Layer 4 — mushrooms and mayonnaise.
-
Step 6:
Layer 5 — salami and mayonnaise.
-
Step 7:
Layer 6 — eggs. I grate the white and yolk separately, but that's not crucial. :) Garnish with a sprig of fresh herbs, let it sit a while, and serve.
- It's better to make the mayonnaise yourself — it'll taste better and be healthier. Look here for some good homemade mayonnaise recipes. You can also use sour cream or plain yogurt as the dressing instead of mayonnaise, either on their own or mixed with mayonnaise in whatever proportion you like — that'll cut down the calories.
- The salad looks tidy and attractive if you cut all the ingredients into pieces of the same size and shape (cubes, for example).
