Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
To begin with, I recommend checking whether you have a blade for kneading dough installed in the bowl of the bread maker. And sometimes it happens that you load all the ingredients, and only then you remember about this blade. And as a result, you have to destroy a beautiful mound of ingredients and install a dough mixer in place. So, first fill in the water. It should be at room temperature. Then we pour in powdered milk, salt, sugar, vegetable oil. Then add flour.
Step 2:
It is recommended to fill the flour sifted. This is done in order to avoid the ingress of foreign bodies. And it is also believed that when sifting flour is enriched with oxygen. Whether this is true or not, it's hard to say, but in any case, the flour becomes looser, and then the dough becomes more lush. Yeast is added most recently. I usually use dry yeast. If you have raw, then they must first be diluted with warm milk with a pinch of sugar.
Step 3:
Close the lid and select the "French bread" mode. I chose the weight "750 gr", the crust is "Dark". On my Redmond bread maker, the cooking time is 3 hours and 52 minutes. While kneading the dough, I look into the bread maker several times and help her a little. I use a silicone spatula to move the flour from the sides of the bowl to the center, to the dough.
Step 4:
Sometimes it is not necessary to do this, all the ingredients are perfectly mixed themselves. But it happens that the flour remains on the walls, then it is baked and the bread is not very beautiful. But if you looked into the bread maker and saw such beauty, then you can do nothing, close the lid and wait for the end of the regime.
Step 5:
After you hear the sound signaling that the bread is ready, we take out the container. And carefully shake out the bread.
Step 6:
You can't cut it right away. You need to wait for the bread to cool down. Otherwise, the crumb will be sticky.
If you use fresh pressed yeast, then dilute them to 12 grams of yeast in 50 ml of milk. You need to let the yeast "wake up" for 15 minutes and only then add it to all the ingredients.
This bread can be served with various dishes. And you can use it as a basis for sandwiches: with cheese, with butter, with jam, with sausage.
You can diversify the taste of French bread by adding dried herbs to the dough, for example, a mixture of Provencal herbs or basil. You can even add just dried dill.
Bon appetit!
Be prepared for the fact that you may need more or less flour than indicated in the recipe. Focus not on the amount of flour, but on the desired consistency of the dough. To avoid mistakes, read about flour and its properties!
