Cooking method
-
Step 1:
How do you make a salad with smoked sausage, corn, and cabbage? Gather your ingredients. First, boil the eggs. How do you boil eggs? Put the raw eggs in a small pot, cover with cold water, set on the heat, and bring to a boil. Boil for 8–9 minutes, then drain the hot water, cover the eggs with cold water, and leave them until fully cooled. Then peel them.
-
Step 2:
Cut the sausage first into strips, then into cubes of about the same size. Instead of smoked sausage, you can use ham, cooked sausage, or cooked-smoked meat.
-
Step 3:
Shred the cabbage—try to slice it thin so it doesn't stand out in big pieces in the finished salad—and crush it a little with your hands.
-
Step 4:
Get out a bowl for the salad and add the chopped sausage and cabbage. Open the canned corn, drain off the excess liquid, and add the corn to the salad.
-
Step 5:
Cut the eggs into cubes. Wash, dry, and finely chop the green onion. Add the chopped boiled eggs and green onion to the rest. Besides green onion, you can add any herbs you like.
-
Step 6:
Dress the salad with mayonnaise and mix. Taste for salt and add some if needed—I usually don't salt mayonnaise salads, but it's up to you. Chill the salad in the refrigerator a bit before serving. Transfer the chilled salad to a nice bowl and serve. Enjoy!
- If you love salads with fresh cabbage, this recipe is for you. Cabbage has plenty of vitamins and minerals to make it a regular, worthwhile part of the diet for anyone who cares about their health—and to my mind, it's well worth eating often. The easiest way to do that is in all sorts of salads. Fresh cabbage pairs wonderfully with smoked sausage and corn. You can round out this salad with cucumber or canned green peas.
- The salad looks nice and neat if you cut all the ingredients into pieces of the same size and shape (cubes, for example).
- It's best to make the mayonnaise yourself—it'll taste better and be healthier. Check out our homemade mayonnaise recipes. You can also use sour cream or plain yogurt instead of mayonnaise, on their own or mixed with it in any ratio you like—this cuts the calories.
- How do you choose good canned corn? Always check the expiration date on the can. If the jar is glass, look closely at the kernels—they should be uniform in size and color, whole and unblemished. The ingredient list shouldn't include dyes, preservatives, or flavor enhancers.
