Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
To prepare dried cherries at home, take ripe cherry berries. You will also need any device for extracting bones. The easiest way is to take a garlic press with a special nozzle.
Step 2:
Wash the cherry berries well and let the water drain completely, drain the berry. Next, you need to extract the seeds from each berry - this is the most time-consuming activity in this long process of cooking dried cherries. Keep in mind that the berries are splashing with juice! Put the berries in a bowl, from which then drain the juice that has flowed out of them.
Step 3:
Put the pitted berries on the surface, lining it with several layers of kitchen towels. Let the cherry lie down a little, preferably 2 hours. Excess liquid will be absorbed into the towels. Line a baking sheet with parchment and spread the cherries evenly over the surface. Put in an oven heated to 60-70 degrees for 3-4 hours. Keep an eye on the moisture content of the berries, if necessary, dry them again.
Step 4:
Put the dried berries in a larger bowl, sprinkle with powdered sugar, shake to evenly distribute the powder.
Step 5:
Store dried cherry berries in a dry, tightly closed jar, or in paper bags made of parchment, can be stored in the freezer (so it will last longer from home).
Dried cherries are a delicious candy, as well as an addition to baking.
