Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 40 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

Since we will bake potatoes in the peel, it needs to be thoroughly washed with a sponge and dried with paper towels or napkins. It is best to take potatoes of hard varieties and about the same size so that they bake evenly.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Lard can be used absolutely any to your taste, whether it is ordinary salted lard, smoked, or lightly salted with layers of meat. Cut it into equal slices, about 0.5 centimeters thick. You can leave the fat with the skin, or cook without it.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Pass garlic through a press and mix with two tablespoons of oil, add salt to taste and allspice. Mix thoroughly. The amount of salt depends on how much salty fat you use. You can also exclude garlic altogether.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Cut each potato in half, not reaching the edge of about 1 centimeter. Insert a slice of bacon into the cut.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Coat the potatoes with garlic mixture.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Wrap each tuber in foil (do not regret the foil, wrap it in 2-3 layers).

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Light a fire, wait for the firewood to burn out and good embers will remain.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Carefully put the potatoes on the coals. Bake for about 6-10 minutes, and then use tongs or a long stick to turn the potatoes to the other side (be very careful! Don't get burned!). Bake again for about 6 - 10 minutes. The readiness of potatoes can be checked with a toothpick or a knife.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Just as carefully remove the finished potatoes. Leave to cool for 5-10 minutes. Carefully unwrap the foil, put the potatoes on a plate.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

    Sprinkle with herbs and serve.

Such potatoes are great as an independent dish, as well as an addition to vegetables, salads and meat.

You can add your favorite spices or dry herbs to the mixture of garlic and oil, if desired.

Incredible aroma, wonderful taste! Try it and you will definitely like it!

Bon appetit!
