Homemade brandy from moonshine

A homemade alternative to a noble but expensive drink. The lack of grape spirits, oak barrels and time for aging has never stopped lovers of homemade strong drinks. This "cognac " will please with an interesting taste, natural composition and a good price-quality ratio.

Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 10 d
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

First, weigh the exact amount of oak bark. And through a strainer, rinse it under running water. So the future drink will be visually freed from unnecessary impurities and suspensions.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Spices are also subject to weighing: cinnamon, ground coriander and nutmeg.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

For such a cognac drink, you will need high-quality moonshine, freed from a sharp smell. Moonshine needs to be distilled twice, after diluting it to twenty degrees.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Add the washed oak bark to the container with moonshine.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Pour in the prepared cinnamon, coriander and nutmeg.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

    Add three carnation buds.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Add granulated sugar. Mix the future cognac with a spoon.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Cover the container with the drink with a paper towel folded in several layers and fix it with an elastic band so that the drink "breathes". In this form, cognac should be infused for ten days at room temperature. Stir the container once a day.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Before drinking cognac, you need to filter it. I do it this way. I cut off the neck of an ordinary plastic bottle and tamp four cotton pads or a piece of gauze inside.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Filtering took me about an hour in total, but it's worth it. After all, the cognac comes out clean as a tear.

Two things are really important here: do not overdo it with oak bark and accurately withstand the infusion time.
If the amount of oak bark is more than specified, then the drink risks acquiring an unpleasant bitterness.
The same thing will happen with an increase in the infusion time.
If you don't like nutmeg, then you can do without it. The drink will still be multifaceted and interesting to taste.
I associate this cognac drink with cool evenings in the company of friends for long conversations by the crackling firewood fireplace.
It would not be superfluous to remind: excessive alcohol consumption negatively affects your health and the health of others.
Have a pleasant tasting!
