  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

How do you make Finnish creamy salmon soup? Gather your ingredients. Rinse the fish and peel the vegetables. Any salmon-family fish works — salmon, trout, pink salmon, and the like. You can also use a white fish, though the flavor will be a little different.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

    Cut the potatoes into cubes.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Put them in a pot, add 1.5 liters of water, and set it over the heat.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Remove the skin and bones from the fish and cut it into rough chunks.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Chop the onion and sauté it in butter.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Grate the carrot and add it to the skillet with the onion.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

About 7–10 minutes after the potatoes come to a boil, add the cut fish to the pot.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

Keep simmering — and keep sautéing the vegetables — for another 7–10 minutes, until the potatoes are tender.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9

Once the potatoes are done, stir the sautéed vegetables and the bay leaf into the pot and pour in the cream. Bring it back to a boil, turn off the heat, and let it rest for about 5 minutes.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10

    Meanwhile, finely chop the dill.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11

Ladle the creamy Finnish soup into a bowl.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12
