  • This mousse comes together with very little effort:
    • In a small bowl, combine the sugar, salt, and cornstarch and stir.
    • Pour the milk into a saucepan and set it over the heat.
    • Whisk the dry mixture into the hot milk, stirring constantly.
    • Cook, stirring, until thickened — don't let it come to a full boil.
    • Take the pan off the heat, add the butter and vanilla sugar, and stir until smooth.
  • The finished cream should slide easily off a spoon and have a thick, smooth consistency.
