    1. Wash the plums, spread them out on a cloth, and wait until they're completely dry. 2. While the plums dry, sterilize your jars and lids. For this amount of plums, you'll need three 1-quart (1-liter) jars or six 1-pint (0.5-liter) ones. 3. Pit the plums and pack the fruit tightly into the jars. 4. Pour water into a large pot and lay a towel on the bottom. 5. Set the jars of plums on the towel (they should be up to their shoulders in water) and cover them with lids. 6. Set the pot on the stove. Once it boils, keep the jars of plums in the water for 15 minutes. 7. Take the jars out of the water, seal them with sterile lids, turn them upside down, and wrap them in a blanket until completely cool. The plums will shrink down in the jar—that's exactly how it should be. Enjoy!
