Serviceberry (Juneberry) Jam
A jar of something sweet is never a bad idea! Jam made from serviceberries (also called Juneberries or saskatoons) turns out wonderfully tasty and fragrant. To help the berries cook down well, an extra portion of sugar is added, and the pot is left uncovered during cooking. Use the jam as a pie filling, spread it on bread, or just enjoy it with a cup of tea.

- Make the syrup: pour the sugar into a saucepan, add the water, set it over the heat, and cook for about 5 minutes. 2. Wash the serviceberries, put them in a pot, pour the syrup over them, and set over low heat. Cook for 10 minutes from the moment it boils. 3. At this point, add the remaining sugar and reduce the jam for another half hour. 4. Spoon the berry mixture into pre-sterilized jars and seal them airtight. The jam keeps fine in a pantry, even in a city apartment.
