    1. Rinse the cornmeal a couple of times (until the water runs clear). 2. Put it in the slow cooker bowl and add the salt and sugar. 3. Pour in the milk. 4. Select the "Bake" program and set the time to 10 minutes — this lets the cornmeal steam a bit. 5. After the beep, switch to the "Grains" (or "Porridge") mode and cook for the manufacturer's default time (about 60 minutes on average). 6. Serve the finished porridge hot, spooned straight into bowls — if it sits in the pot too long, it thickens into one big lump and loses its appeal. Enjoy!
