Fresh Herb Topping for Soup
This topping isn't just delicious — it's good for you, too! What does an ordinary dish need? Fresh herbs, of course — slender green onion, fragrant dill, and curly parsley. Beyond their flavor, our most popular herbs are also a source of vitamins and trace minerals, with health benefits that are hard to beat.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Wash the fresh herbs well and trim off the roots. Lay them out on a paper towel to dry.
-
Step 2:
Finely chop the green onion and put it in a bowl.
-
Step 3:
Salt the green onion and mash it with a pestle to draw out the juice.
-
Step 4:
Chop the parsley and add it to the green onion.
-
Step 5:
Chop the dill and add it to the green onion and parsley.
-
Step 6:
Take the first kind of lettuce and cut it into medium pieces — not too fine, not too large — and add it to the green onion, dill, and parsley.
-
Step 7:
Take the second kind of lettuce, cut it the same way, and add it to the rest.
-
Step 8:
Finely chop the basil and add it to the herbs in the bowl. The basil gives the dish a wonderful aroma.
-
Step 9:
Add the salt, sour cream, and mayonnaise, and stir.
-
Step 10:
Enjoy!
-
Step 11:
Stir this topping into a bowl of any soup — it's especially good in borscht. You can also spread it on a slice of rye bread, and the thicker the layer, the tastier it is. Enjoy!
