Cooking method

  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

Before cooking the beef, rinse it thoroughly under cold running water. Put it in a pot and cook for 50 minutes — first over high heat to bring the water to a boil, then over medium heat. Don't forget to salt it.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Rinse the peas thoroughly until the water runs clear, and soak them for one hour. After that hour, once the beef is cooked and the peas are ready, add the peas to the pot and cook for another hour, stirring occasionally. You can add a bay leaf and seasoning to make the soup even tastier. One more handy tip: before cooking the meat, it's best to drain that first water and start it cooking again in fresh water.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Cut the onion into small cubes. You can fry it in a skillet, but we won't — we'll add it as is. If you have a carrot, you can add it too; it can also go in without frying, the taste doesn't change.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Wash the parsley and green onion thoroughly under cold running water, then chop finely. If you have dill, add that too — the more herbs, the better and tastier. Chop the green onion finely; try to chop all the herbs finely.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Wash, peel, and dice the potatoes (I usually cut them on a board — it's easier and the size comes out right). Add them to the pot once the peas are cooked (about an hour in), along with the onion. Stir everything well so the peas don't stick to the bottom of the pot.

  • Here's a recipe for a very tasty, wholesome soup. You won't need many ingredients, but it comes out delicious. I recommend it to everyone. You'll need peas, potatoes, fresh herbs, and onion — that's it.
