- Cover the potatoes with water and boil them until tender. 2. Drain the water, mash the potatoes with a potato masher, and let the mash cool a little. 3. Add salt, the egg, and the sifted flour, knead into a dough, and shape the lazy dumplings. 4. Fill a pot with water and add salt. Drop the dumplings into rapidly boiling water.
