Polish Russian Pies

Vegetarian alternative to dumplings, fast, tasty, satisfying without meat. No Russian person would think of combining such products, and by the way it's fast, tasty and satisfying The favorite dish of Russian bachelors (and not only) are dumplings. Perhaps I'm shocking someone, but there are areas in the world where dumplings have never been heard of. For example, Poland. But there are Russian pies in high esteem among bachelors (and not only). Russian people are surprised that such products can be mixed, but it's really delicious. Try.

Cooking method

Cooking time: 3 h

The dough for Russian Polish pies is prepared the same way as for dumplings. Water, egg, salt are added to the flour and mixed, a steep dough is kneaded.

For the filling, cook the potatoes in a uniform, fry the onion, seasoning it to taste with ground pepper. Mix toasted onions, peeled boiled potatoes and cottage cheese, add ground pepper to taste. The "classic" Russian pies should have a sharp filling.
Roll out the dough, cut out circles, as for dumplings. Russian pies are also molded like dumplings, only they do not add up with an "ear". Although you can fold it, as you like. Ready-made pies can be frozen for long-term storage.

For the final stage of cooking, boil water, throw pies into boiling water, cook them for 2-3 minutes (because there is no meat in them, which requires longer cooking), gently stirring. If the dough is too thin, Russian pies tend to boil and fall apart quickly, so it's better to roll out the "skin" thicker. It is best to use it with sour cream. If you have cooked a lot, but it didn't work out to eat everything, then later you can warm up the pies in a frying pan. Personally, it seems to me that they are adapted for frying more than dumplings.
