- Lightly toast the baguette slices. Cut the ham, cheese, and tomatoes into slices or cubes (whichever you prefer). Build the canapés in this order: baguette, ham, tomato, cheese. If you like, add bell pepper on top. Pop them in the microwave so the cheese melts onto the canapés. Insert a skewer to make them easier to pick up. Garnish with fresh herbs. If you use bell peppers of different colors, the canapés turn out even prettier.
