Pan-Fried Water-Dough Hand Pies
These hand pies come together fast and turn out fragrant and filling. The water-based dough works with absolutely any filling—not just meat, but also fish, vegetables, or berries and fruit, sweet or savory. They're a great match for soups when you use a filling that suits them.
Cooking method

Step 1:
Gather all your ingredients.

Dissolve the dry yeast in warm water.

Add the sugar and 2–3 tablespoons of the flour.

Let this sponge sit somewhere warm for 15 minutes.

Then pour in the vegetable oil and stir well.

Add the salt and the rest of the flour.

Step 7:
Knead a stiff dough for the pies. Let it rest in a warm spot for 20 minutes.

Salt the ground meat, add the finely chopped onion, and mix.

Divide the dough into 10–12 portions. Roll each one into a round and add the filling.

Pinch the pies tightly closed.

Fry the pies on each side until golden brown.
