"Epaulette" Sandwiches for February 23rd
An original open-faced sandwich appetizer shaped like military epaulettes for February 23rd! A pleasantly spicy, delicious festive sandwich. It's easy and quick to make — a real lifesaver when guests are already at the door.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Trim the edges of the sandwich bread slices into the shape of an epaulette.
-
Step 2:
Arrange the bread shapes on a platter. If you like, you can toast the bread on both sides in a dry skillet, but it's not necessary — the sandwiches turn out very tasty as they are.
-
Step 3:
Lay salted fatback, cut into thin slices, onto the bread shapes. Try to cut the fatback to the same shape so it doesn't hang over the edges of the bread.
-
Step 4:
Next, lay garlic cut into thin slices over the fatback.
-
Step 5:
Cover the fatback and garlic with another slice of sandwich bread. For decoration, cut thin strips from the carrots, and stars and buttons from the lemon peel. You can also cut the same stars from cheese and draw the stripes with ketchup, for example.
-
Step 6:
Bon appétit! Happy Defender of the Fatherland Day!
