Cooking in a slow cooker is one of the best ways to cook pea porridge. Hard peas require prolonged soaking and cooking, because it is so difficult to achieve its softness and boiling. Cooking in a slow cooker allows you not to control the process, and a closed lid will help to achieve the necessary degree of readiness almost without the participation of the hostess.

Wash the peas well with running water. The water should be clear. Before cooking, peas require mandatory soaking, this can be done directly in the bowl of the slow cooker, so as not to dirty the extra dishes and not waste time cleaning it afterwards. We load the washed peas into a slow cooker and pour cold water so that it completely covers the cereal.

After 2 hours, we discard the peas in a colander and let the water drain. We put the peas back into the bowl of the slow cooker, pour fresh cold water. We close the lid of the slow cooker, set the cooking mode for 2 hours and temporarily forget about the porridge, doing personal business.

30 minutes before the end of the regime, cut the smoked brisket into a small cube. We load the smoked meat into the slow cooker, mix, close the lid and continue cooking for another 30 minutes.

Cut the smoked chicken. You can take any part, fillets, thighs or hams are best suited. Remove the skin, separate the meat from the bones and cut into cubes. Smoked chicken is added to the pea porridge immediately after the signal about the end of the cooking mode. At the same time, season it with salt, ground black pepper.

Mix, close the lid and turn on the heating mode for another 5 minutes. After that, the porridge is completely ready, it can be served to the table. If the meal is not planned at this time, we just leave the slow cooker in the heat preservation mode and eat when we want. Pea porridge with smoked meat will be waiting hot.
