Thin Yeast-Free Lavash

Delicious, wholesome homemade flatbread from the East — no yeast! We love thin lavash — we eat it with both soups and main dishes. And we especially like wrapping all kinds of fillings in it: vegetables, meat, and combinations of the two with different sauces. So good! We used to buy lavash at the store, but now we make it ourselves. It turned out to be much easier than it seemed, and it takes only simple ingredients you always have on hand.

  • Making this lavash is not hard at all. Here's what to do: 1. Add the salt, oil, and hot water to the sifted flour. 2. Knead the dough well and put it in a bag for 20 minutes so it can rest. 3. Roll out thin rounds of a size to fit your pan and cook them in a dry skillet on both sides for about a minute. 4. Be sure to sprinkle the hot lavash with water and cover it with kitchen towels. Serve it with all sorts of dishes, or wrap interesting fillings in it. It's delicious even on its own — with milk or kefir, for example. Enjoy!
