Oven-Baked Meat Patties with Quail Eggs

Tired of ordinary patties? Make these and surprise your family. I came across this wonderful recipe on a website a few years ago, and I've been making these patties ever since. And every time the flavor comes out a little different.

Cooking method

  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

    Measure out the ingredients.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Grate the cheese on the coarse side of a grater.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Rinse the herbs, pat them dry, and chop finely.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Combine the ground meat with the grated cheese and herbs.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Season with salt and pepper and knead well.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Shape the mixture into patties and press a hollow into the middle of each, sized for a quail egg.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet, lay the patties hollow-side down, and fry until golden. Then flip them and fry for about 4 more minutes.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

Transfer the patties to a baking dish, crack a quail egg into each hollow, and season with salt. Bake in an oven preheated to 350°F (180°C) for 20–25 minutes.

  • If you like, you can mix some sautéed, finely chopped onion into the meat, but no one in our family eats onion, so I left it out. You can also skip the pan-frying and bake the patties straight in the oven — about 25 minutes first without the eggs, then another 20 with them.
