Fish Balls in Tomato–Sour Cream Sauce

Fish balls with a fresh twist! These are basically fish meatballs — just a snappier name. Incredibly tender and juicy, tasty and fragrant. Make them for dinner and your family will be thrilled!

Cooking method

    Gather your ingredients. I'm using silver carp fillet.

    Run the fish fillet through a meat grinder. Add the egg and breadcrumbs to the ground fish, then season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix the mixture together thoroughly.

    Moisten your hands with water and shape the fish mixture into balls a little bigger than a walnut.

    Set a skillet with vegetable oil over the heat. Use one with high sides, since we'll be simmering the fish balls in it. Then roll each ball in flour.

    Add all the flour-coated fish balls to the skillet and fry.

    Give the pan handle a gentle shake and they'll roll over on their own.

    Here are the nicely browned fish balls.

    For the sauce, stir together the sour cream, tomato paste, and water.

    Pour the sauce over the fish balls, lower the heat, cover the skillet, and simmer for about 30 minutes until done.

    And here are our appetizing fish balls. Plate them up and spoon the sauce over top. Mashed potatoes make a great side.
