  • Rinse and pat the pork dry. Peel the garlic and cut it into long slivers. Make small slits all around the pork and tuck a sliver of garlic into each. Slice the onion into half-rings and scatter it over a baking sheet. Stir the soy sauce together with the water and vinegar and pour it over the onion. Dot the butter over the onion in pieces. Season the pork with pepper and salt, then sprinkle it generously with onion powder. Set the pork on the bed of onions and sprinkle it with Italian herbs. Cover the pork with foil and bake for an hour and a half at 350°F (180°C). Remove the foil and give the meat another 15 minutes in the oven. This roast pork is great hot or cold — it comes out incredibly soft, tender, and fragrant!
