Cooking method
And as soon as this food is not called in Russia - both "shawarma" and "shawarma". Although in fact, its Arabic name is "shwarma", and the Turkish name is "Doner Kebab". And for the preparation of this dish, a special technique is needed. Since not every kitchen has one, we offer a culinary recipe that mimics the taste of a real doner kebab, but does not require all sorts of devices.
We cut the meat as for thin steaks and beat it off until it turns into thin sheets. Pour olive oil and yogurt or milk, sprinkle with spices and let it marinate for two hours.
Scroll the onion in a blender to the state of mush and mix it with minced meat. Add tomato paste, salt, pepper and spices, and mix everything well. We take a rectangular shape with high edges, as for bread. We cover it with plastic wrap and begin to lay the meat. The first layer, a few leaves of steak, then a thin layer of minced meat, then steak again. And so on until the ingredients run out. The first and last layers should be from steak. Everything that turned out is tightened with a film, strongly tamped and sent to the freezer for freezing for about a day.
In a frying pan, heat up a little vegetable oil (as when frying pancakes), cut off thin pieces of half-frozen doner and fry them.
Serve with vegetables. You can stuff this meat with pita or wrap it in pita bread.
