Buckwheat Cooked in the Microwave
Fluffy buckwheat made in the microwave! I'd never thought of the microwave as an appliance for cooking dishes rather than just reheating them. But buckwheat cooked in the microwave turned out very fluffy, and it was no trouble at all to make! It's all very simple and easy!
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
How do you cook buckwheat in the microwave? Gather all your ingredients. Pay special attention to choosing the buckwheat groats. It's not worth skimping on, so always choose groats from a reliable producer. Such groats are clean, free of foreign matter, and don't contain grain-weevil larvae. Even in the store, look at the buckwheat right through the package: the grains should be even and clean. I always use good homemade butter, at least 82% fat.
-
Step 2:
Look over the groats again, remove any debris if needed, and rinse them well under running water. A sieve works best for this. Rinse the buckwheat until the water runs completely clear.
-
Step 3:
Get out a microwave-safe dish. Once again, a reminder: never use metal dishes or other metal utensils in a microwave, nor dishes with gilded decoration — the microwave will spark and may burn out. Ceramic, glass, porcelain, wooden and even paper dishes, however, are allowed and recommended for microwave use. Put the buckwheat in a bowl.
-
Step 4:
Use a fairly deep bowl, since the buckwheat will expand a lot. Add water — use a ratio of 2 cups of water per 1 cup of buckwheat. Add a little salt.
-
Step 5:
Place it in the microwave on the rotating glass turntable.
-
Step 6:
Cover with a microwave-safe lid. Cook at maximum power for 5 minutes (mine is 1000 W, but it can range from 800 to 1200) — the water will come to a boil. Then reduce the power to its minimum (400–600) and cook for another 10 minutes. Then leave the dish of buckwheat in the oven for 5 more minutes. The water needs to be fully absorbed into the buckwheat.
-
Step 7:
Add butter to the cooked buckwheat and stir.
-
Step 8:
Delicious, fluffy buckwheat is ready! Enjoy!
