Cooking method
- Start by cutting the crust off the bread, setting the bread on a plate, pouring the milk over it, and letting it soak. Put the ground beef, minced garlic, parsley, and egg in a bowl, add the milk-soaked bread, season with salt and pepper, and mix well. Divide the mixture into 20 small balls, rolling them with damp hands, then dust them with flour. Heat the oil in a wide skillet, add the meatballs, and fry until browned on all sides. Transfer them to a large pot. Purée the canned tomatoes in a blender and pour the sauce over the meatballs. Add the basil and sugar and simmer over low heat for 20–25 minutes, until the tomatoes thicken into a sauce. Serve over cooked pasta.
