Sauerkraut Braised with Chicken Drumsticks
Chicken lovers will be won over! Fragrant, appetizing, and really quick! There's almost always a small jar of sauerkraut in my fridge, thanks to my relatives who keep me stocked. Since I don't eat it plain, I have to keep coming up with new recipes that use it up. Today I'll share my recipe for chicken braised with sauerkraut.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Gather the ingredients. Cut the chicken into pieces — I used thighs, drumsticks, and wings. If the sauerkraut is very sour or heavy with brine, rinse it and squeeze it out.
-
Step 2:
In vegetable oil, quickly brown the chicken pieces on both sides until nearly done, seasoning with salt and pepper.
-
Step 3:
Set them aside on a plate for now.
-
Step 4:
Slice the onion into half-moons.
-
Step 5:
Fry it in the fat left behind from the chicken.
-
Step 6:
Add the prepared sauerkraut and lightly sauté it together with the onion.
-
Step 7:
Return the chicken pieces to the pan, pour in the beer, and simmer, covered, for 5 minutes. Stir and serve with mashed potatoes. I loved both the juicy chicken and the sauerkraut braised in that fragrant sauce. A great everyday dish!
