Boiled Pork Liver

Don't forget how good liver is for you — work it into your menu! Boiled pork liver is a wonderfully nutritious dish! You can serve it with a fresh vegetable salad or with a side of grains or potatoes. It's important to soak the liver in milk before cooking so the finished dish doesn't taste bitter.

    1. Wash the liver thoroughly under running water, then remove the membrane (if the liver is frozen, thaw it first, though I prefer to buy fresh).
    1. Put the liver in a bowl, pour milk over it, and leave it to soak for half an hour.
    1. Now put the liver in a pot, add water, sprinkle in the salt, and add the bay leaf. Set the pot over the heat and bring it to a boil.
    1. From the moment it boils, the liver cooks for 35–40 minutes. To check whether it's done, just pierce the liver with a knife — if reddish liquid runs out, it needs more cooking; if the juices are clear, the liver is ready.
  • You can serve the liver with your favorite side dish or simply with a vegetable salad.
  • Enjoy your meal!
