Garlic Rye Croutons
A zesty, crunchy snack for any table! Garlic croutons make a wonderful nibble, and they don't take long to put together. They go just as well with tea, with beer, or alongside a bowl of borscht. If friends or family drop by and your fridge is looking bare, garlic croutons are a great fallback.

Cooking method
- Let's get started. First, cut the rye bread into standard slices, then cut each in half. Heat a skillet with refined vegetable oil. Fry the bread on one side, then the other, remembering to salt it as you go. Frying in oil is on the heavy side, though, so some people lightly brush one side with butter and dry the bread in the oven on a baking sheet instead. Once the bottom is golden, rub it with garlic and salt. After frying (or toasting), rub the bread with a mixture of grated garlic and salt. And that's how you make garlic croutons. Serve them warm — as a nibble with beer, simply with tea, or alongside borscht.
