Buckwheat with Beef and Mushrooms

Buckwheat becomes a first-rate dish when you add meat and a mushroom sauce. I recently came across a recipe for buckwheat with meat and mushroom gravy, and after reading it I couldn't resist making it myself. Happily, it turned out great — and I hope it comes out just as well for you. Let's get cooking.

  • How do you make buckwheat with beef and mushrooms? First, cook the buckwheat. Sauté the mushrooms and onion together in a preheated skillet. Cut the beef into small pieces and brown it in the butter, then add 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil and stir in 2 tablespoons of fresh sour cream, the garlic (halve each clove), and your meat seasoning. Let this simmer for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, combine everything, fold in the mushroom mixture, and spoon it onto plates — ladle the meat with plenty of its gravy, stirring the components together as you go. The food is ready to eat. Enjoy!

  • If you use a ready-made spice blend, always check the label. These mixes often already contain salt, so account for that or you risk over-salting the dish.
